We should start this designer profile with a very specific phrase: Scandi-cool. We might be tempted to leave it there, for it sure describes Mini Rodini’s vibe. Background goes something like this: In 2006, Cassandra Rhodin, a Swedish artist with a career illustrating for H&M, Anthropologie, and other fast fashion brands, found herself pregnant but frustrated with the fashion production and the lack of organic cotton choice for her coming child. Like most momtrepreneurs she decided to fill the gap and named her company for a great-grandfather’s circus performance name. So far, so cool, but it’s about to get way cooler.
We profile and applaud many moms who find the market lacking in products that do good, make good, and sell good. So yes, you’ve read this type of story from us before, but in Mini Rodini’s case we are blown-away by the initiative, narrative, and gentle instruction this company takes in their mission of sustainability and fair trade.
The design goal is to make fun children’s clothes that are fit for kid life. We’re talking quirky, bold, unisex pieces that don’t skimp on quality and that meet Mini Rodini’s ethical and environmental objectives. To that end, all their cotton and wool is GOTS certified, they upcycle polyester, and use soft Lyocell, Tencel, and vegan leather making their materials 99% sustainable while working to minimize chemical waste.
Charmingly, they share how as parents you too can recycle, resell, and even make patches and other wonders out of much loved kids garb thus including their customers in their story and mission. We are super excited to share with you Mini Rodini’s colourful animals and motifs made for adventuring in your turf.
